Hotel and me?

Why should we visit a hotel at all? I asked myself. It felt so strange, you know, we don't study any hotel curriculum. It's not like hotels are going to need a lot of people speaking good languages only. Afterall, the people who study hotel management in universities probably have acquired good speaking skills.
My puzzlement did not dissolve until I went on the tour in JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong. It's kind of eye-opening. I know more about the development of luxury hotels in Hong Kong. I know more about Marriott's emphasis on food and beverages. I know more about the career aspect of Language students in hotels, however small it is, such as hotel communications - a 3-person department.
I can't say I'm not disappointed to hear the small amount of possible employment in the hotel. It is clear that BA students have a narrow career opportunity besides pure language-related jobs, since we are no professionals.
I just wish to study one more subject besides languages, so that I won't be crossed out by this harsh business-based society.
