Week one
I visited the Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden. It was the first time I visit there. I was glad that Epin was with us as she is caring and humorous. We had a lesson on holistic education. The lecture was very meaningful and inspiring. 'Education' should be leading students to develop their own potential instaed of forcing them or spoon fed them knowledge or skills that do not fit their own potential. Besides, university education should not only focus on training students' head, holistic education should involve head, hand and heart. However, our university teachers and leaders are not applying holistic education on our studies. After the lecture we visited different kind of animals in the farm. There were deers, bats, wild pigs and many more. Also, we had a chance to touch a snake. It was a new and surprising experience. After that, we had a lecture on food and environment and a tour around the farm. Lastly, we picked some herbs and made herbal tea. The second visit of this week is a tour to the JW marriott Skygate Hotel. The trip was too short and there should be more time for us to talk to the HR manager so that we get a fuller picture on hotel management. It was disappointing that Ms Luk can only answer one question from us. We spent so much time on travelling and received so little information. I would rather talk to experienced people than to stay at school. I feel exhausted this week. I wish that things would get better next week. :(
