In this week, I had a visit in RTHK and I have learnt a lot in this trip.

In this trip, I know more about radio and how a DJ works.

Before this trip, I thought that radio work and DJ's work are simple and it is easy to prepare everything.

I thought that they should be good at language and speak their speech fluently.

However, after this trip, I know more about that being a DJ is not an easy job because they have to handle thousands of work, especially time management. A DJ should control the time and pay much attention. A DJ should like talking and there are different channels like Putonghua and English. This trip definitely makes me learn a lot.

Also, this week, I had a Putonghua performance.

Although there is not much time for us to enhance my Putonghua standard, it is a valuable experience for me to read and speak more Putonghua in these two week during the drama and reading aloud performance. The practice in these two week make me speak Putonghua a lot and I have learnt some skills to speak it more accurately, such as how to read the words and shout in order to train our face muscle. It is definitely a good experience.

Week TWO

In this week, we visited British Council. It is unforgettable experience. And there were some

Putonghau Drama practices and Translation Workshop.

About the translation workshop, I foung some difficulties on those some heated words nowadays, like “Double-Not” Pregnant Women (雙非母親) and “Princess Sickness”(公主病). Because I am only a major in English student so that it is hard for me to translate these words because we have not heard these yet. About the translation test, it was difficult for me because there were only a few lessons which taught us about translation skills.

About the British Council, it is a nice trip for me because it has broadened my horizon. Before taking this trip, I just know we have to get some IELTS or another English exam information for British Council. But until now, I know that there are many courses which are provided for youngsters and early children. I found that there are some tutors in Early Children Eduction Center teach drawing lessons and teach some Scientific knowledge like The Earth, The Mars and so on. I think it is a good place for Hong Kongers to go there so as to enhance their English proficiency.

It is a memorable and unforgettable chance to visit British Council.

Week one

In this week, we visited Kadoorie Farm and there

were some workshops for translation and Putonghua

enhancement course.

There are a variety of attitude toward Kadoorie Farm visit. Hong Kong is a cosmopolitan

and vibrant city. However, everything is gone quickly. Therefore, the vast majority of Hong

Kong People eat unhealthily owing to their busy work. It is worthwhile for us to get rid of our busy lives to enjoy the sunshine and organic food for our lunch.

I think the most important and interesting thing is the Holistic Education. Because we do not care

about the food which is come from. Also, GM food is related to our daily lives because there are less and less food supply around the world. But is GM food good for us? After the talk of Holistic Education, I reflect that we should eat more vegetables rather than meat. Because raising some animals like cow and pig, it would waste too much water. Therefore, eating too much meat definitely will cause catastrophic consequences on environment. I learn a lesson that everyone should have obligation and responsibility to protect the earth!

Nevertheless, the sunshine makes us hot and feel uncomfortable. Also, I do not think that this

visit may enhance our language proficiency obviously. Because it is quite difficult to listen some unfamiliar terms so some of instructors would like to speak Cantonese rather than iEnglish or Putonghua.

About the translation workshop, I think it is difficult for us to translate some idiom. But after having a lesson of translation, it is impossible and unreasonable to translate some paragraphs and some Cantonese terms because we do not have any courses about translation in a past year. There is a must for us to learn more and have more time to learn so that we can learn it more effective and efficient. About the Putonghua enhancement , it is interesting for us to do a drama in order to learn Putonghua. It is very vibrant and the interaction with tutors is a key in language enhancement.
