I was impressed by the visit to SCMP . I have never been to newspapers office before . To be frank I 'm not really interested in journalism . I would rather write ariticles related to fashion or fine dining . I was shocked when I saw the mail office of SCMP ,  the construction of the rail transporting the newspapers was complicated . SCMP invested 1 billion on introducing this system so as to tidy up different parts of newspaper before sending pile of them to retailing or conveninence stores .

However , the lesson like translation or speech training workshop are a bit boring and routine . I'm not really keen on speech as I have participated speech festival since primary school .Thus I think I know how to perform.   

Week 2

The most routine part of the summer camp . This week kept looping with translation workshops, drama and prose-reading . However , I did get many chances to pratise my Putonghua by virtue of the drama and prose-reading workshops. It 's a bit hurry for us to have performance when we have just taken few lessons, a bit stressed. 

I had been looking forward to the Cathay Airline Field Trip . The trip was boring except we got some information about application for  flight attendants . We were excited when we saw some pliots walking through .

In the past two weeks , this camp has explored some career field for us like translation and customer services.  It is practical but I do expect more sharings from those professionals.

語文夏令營報告反思

  六月初夏,夏蟬嗚叫不絕,準備為大學第一年生活畫上不完滿的句號,怎料緊接下來為期四星期的語文夏令營才是這一年的延續,為大學第一年的夏天揭開序幕。

 

  天空被漂染成海藍色,旭日被掛在我們的頭蓋兒上,為翠綠的大地塗上閃亮亮的金黃。同學們抱著踩到牛糞、被蚊子強吻的心理準備,步進嘉道理農場。看純真的梅花鹿,摸冷血的蟒蛇,還有各式各樣的爬蟲類兩棲類動物,都讓我們目不暇給,大自然孕育了不少生物,令自然界達至生物多樣性,令整個世界更為平衡。除了觀賞動物,園方介紹了不少植物,例給檸檬葉、薄荷葉等,可作花茶飲用,更讓我們親自採茶沖泡。我採了一棵檸檬葉,把它撕碎加入熱水,變成一杯「花茶」。事實上味道真的不怎麼樣,只是一杯帶有檸檬香氣的清水(甚至只是一杯熱水,在三十度高溫下喝熱水滋味真的不好受)。

 

  園方還給我們上了一課類似全人教育的課,內容大概是如何令小孩子在課堂以外學東西之類的。另外一個環節是關於加工食品,導師播放了一段影片,指我們接觸 到的零食例如一些表面閃亮亮帶光澤的朱古力和糖果, 其實是用了一種化學噴劑;而這些噴劑是利用害蟲、毛髮等製成,引起我們對食品安全的關注。可是,沒有化學品,我們的生活會受到很大的影響。我認為這不是不去接觸加工物品的問題,而是如何安全地食用,或控制攝取的份量。

 

  營中我們上了關於翻譯、戲劇和朗誦的課。翻譯課的確讓我了解到翻譯有好幾種方法,但事實上要同學在短短時間像速成班般翻譯新聞或篇章,難度太高了。雖然唸語文和翻譯是有很大關係,但翻譯不只是對文字的了解,而是整篇文章詮釋,更要講求用字準備度及文法。要求同學在幾堂課學會這些,太理想化了。

 

  至於朗誦和戲劇,我很欣賞卓老師和蔣老師的認真和嚴謹。兩位老師很努力傳授發聲、動作、表情等技巧。蔣老師非常注重一齣舞台劇中的所有細節,例如演員的表情,肢體動作、唸對白的語氣和走位,甚至我這些無關痛癢的跑龍套,也有嚴謹要求。雖然兩種活動的參與度並不高,但兩位老師的教學態度,非常值得欣賞和嘉許。

 

  另一個參觀活動值得一提的是去南華早報總部,南華早報的員工特意邀請一些編輯和我們分享工作的感受,還有印刷部的主管帶我們參觀印刷廠,我們更有幸見到大型印刷機啟動和運作,見到運輸帶夾起一份份滾燙的報章到儲存室存放。主管提到南華早報的理念時,說到不只是購買報章的讀者是他們的客人,而是售賣的報販也是他們的客人,故他們願意投資幾億在儲存室的機器上,目的是把不同版的報紙夾好,完整一份的報章送到報販手上。這份理念實在令人感動,亦象徵這個報館對社會的關懷。

 

  第三個星期開始上關於廣告製作和新聞傳播的課。在廣告製作課中,我發現自己是很喜歡這方面的工作,不是去設計廣告橋段、口號那些,而是海報製作、平面設計方面的。很可惜我不是唸設計或媒體創作之類,只是有做平面設計的經驗;慶幸部分講者給我一些指導,建議我去唸一些關於設計的高級文憑課程,說不定也能闖出未來。至於新聞傳播的課,是云云課程中最認真的一課。導師要求我們就指定的題材去製造一篇報導。我組是選了食物添加劑這題材,以三聚氰鞍和塑化劑作例,剖析兩種化學物的影響。導師要求加入訪問環節在報導中,還好我真的認識在醫院做醫療化驗師的朋友,加強我組報導的真確性和說服力。製作新聞頭腦要清醒,思路要清晰,內容要有焦點,還要引人入勝,在短短時間內製作一篇報導,的確是份苦差。繳交功課的前一晚我花上五個小時去排版,雖然習慣了熬夜,恐怕將來也不會從事新聞傳播了。

 

六月三十日,大學第一年的生活終於可以畫上句號了。雖然不少同學還在高呼「還我六月暑假」,也有不少投訴、不滿的聲音,但這個夏令營已經比我想像中好一點。部分課程和參觀的確言過其實、貨不對辦,總好比在夏令營初步計劃去什麼露營好得多。期望來年一年級新生的夏令營會比我們的更有意義,計劃更完善。

Week 3

A fruitful week but an exhausting week . 

We had a performance on 18th June in the morning . Actually I didn't get much inspiration through both speech and drama workshops as I was not playing a very important role in drama . However , I dis gratitude teachers of prose-reading and drama workshops. They did pay strenuous effort on teaching us how to act in such a better way .

We had 2 new workshops in this week . The copywriting workshop was interesting and impressive , especially the guest speakers on friday , who is a manager from publishing company.  He gave detailed information about publishing like what qualities should employees have and what can we prepare for this career . I found that I'm not that keen on doing editing or proofreading . Instead, I  would like to do typesetting and designing as I know how to use photoshop . Unfortunately , he told me that those who do typesetting and designing must be a design or  media degree holder rather than a language degree holder .  I was frustrated at first but I would start to look for some course whether I can take so as to have a similar qualification of it . Doubtless , inviting guest speakers to share with students explore the insight of us . 

Another workshop is abot journalism . It's a bit professional and stressful probably by virtue of the assignment . We are asked to compose a news by ourselves in which having interviews with different people  is needed. We have to look for multitude of information and these information must be accurate ,reliable and convincing . It's harsh but it's a good try. 

4th week is coming . Hope it goes well and ends soon.
