The 1st week of the summer camp has passed.

I remember when I was in secondary one, it was my  first trip to Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG). Now I am in unversity one ,this is my second time to KFBG.

The "cute" snake

Before I visited there, I haven't  had  any  excitement or expectation on it. In my mind, it is still the same place with  the same natural species and animals( like wild pigs , fruit bats or deers) . Certainly, it is. However,   I found the experiences I got  this time is totally different. I know more about the animals about their growth and their natural habitats.  The most exciting thing is that I can  see a real snake and even have a chance to touch it. It is really  a  marvellous experience!! I can feel the skin of the snake that  is dry and smooth.

The snake is "cute" which  is completely out of my expectation. Each of us  was just peacefully lining up and touching it barely. The snake seems pretty enjoyful. We can see the guide held the snake freely.

I think  the snake  is quite proud of " showing" its beautiful skin, right? I think so.

Snake shed skin

Wow! Look at the snake in the transparant  tube! Is it firece? Frightened by it? Oh no! Hey, it's just a skin of a snake. Ha! Ha!  Snake will shed their old skin to growth.

Snakes constantly grow new skin cells and so they must shed the old skin cells. We shed our old skin cells continuously in small quantities, but snakes shed their old skins in a continuous sheet. The interval between sheds depends on several factors, including age, growth rate, and environmental factors. Young, growing snakes shed frequently (every few weeks); adult snakes shed less often, perhaps a few times a year, sometimes less.

When they shed thier skin, they would like to rub their skin on something that have  rough surface like rocks. (see the video)

Strange tree

Have you seen any trees would look very strange?(see the photos in the attached file) Yeah! It is another marvellous side of KFBG. We can see another plants grow on the mid of the Carambola tree.

Why is it so? Actually, it is the " masterpeice" of the gardener there. I have been told that  one of the gardener thought it was a bit ugly to the original look of the tree, so he planted other plants on the Carambola tree.

By and large, I am  interesting in visiting KFBG. It gives me a wonderful and special experience. The sunshine is strong but my excitement is also strong!!!
