The first week of the summer camp

Posted on 11 June 2012, 23:26

As you know, when we, students studying in language studies, knew that we have this compulsory camp, the majority of us complained quite a lot. After one week past, I started to understand the reason why the organizer insists the camp since I have already learnt something useful from some classes and visits. Here I would like to do a sharing to you!

The translation is the most impressive lesson to me. Though I haven’t thought about being a translator before, this lesson did help me to know more about the job related to translation. And our teacher Michele is very nice, I found her teaching is useful but not boring at all.

There is a point that Michele emphasized a lot which I want to share to you here. She told us that people who are good at languages have their advantages in Hong Kong. She mentioned we should try hard to improve our English and Mandarin as we have more free time than people who are working. I agree with her. Improving the fluency of speaking English is what I am trying hard to do.

We went to Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden also. This is really a special experience for me because normally I would rather stay in the air-conditioning room. I like the making herbal tea section very much, we could pick the leaf we like to make a fresh tea. I picked a leaf which smell like lemon. The interesting thing was though the leaf smell like lemon, it didn’t taste like lemon.

We got some chances to see wild pigs too . They are very big . I imagined if I see the pigs in front of me without any secure facilities, I would feel too scared then run away.

To conclude my feeling of the first week of this summer camp, I feel actually quite good because I can see the efforts the organizers paid . The talk and visit they held for us could help us to think about our future career .
